São Paulo – The population of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries reached approximately 61.2 million people by the end of last year, representing a 36% increase, or more than 2.1 million people, compared to 2023, Qatari state news agency QNA reported based on information from the GCC Statistical Center (GCC-Stat).
According to the report, the population of the bloc’s countries has increased by approximately 7.6 million people since 2021, or 14.2%, reflecting a high rate of population growth following the slowdown experienced by some countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The total male population in the GCC reached approximately 38.5 million, constituting 62.8% of the total population, while women account for approximately 22.7 million people, or 37.2% of the total population. GCC-Stat data also indicates that the GCC countries host 0.7% of the world’s population. The GCC is composed of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
