Rio – The Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP), all the goods and services produced in the country, grew 0.3% in the first quarter of 2005 when compared to the last quarter of last year. One of the sectors that generated this growth was the export sector.
These figures were supplied today (31) by the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics (IBGE). When compared to the first quarter of 2004, the GDP growth was 2.9%.
The IBGE figures show that, from January to March this year, agriculture was the only sector that registered growth (2.6%) when compared to the same period last year. Industry had a 1% drop and services 0.2%.
