Brasília – The Brazilian president Michel Temer sanctioned a law allowing the federal government to provide BRL 3 billion (USD 948.2 million) in National Treasury funds for the country to pay for its own participation in programs and actions by national and international organizations. The sanction was published on the Federal Gazette this Friday (21).The funds will be drawn from the financial surplus accrued in 2015.
Organizations due to receive the funds include the Global Environment Fund; the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI); the Pan-American Center for Aphthous Fever; the United Nations (UN); the Mercosur; the Kyoto Protocol; the Organization of American States (OAS); the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco); the World Health Organization (WHO); etc.
