Brasília – The economic team of the Brazilian government estimates an average annual growth of 5.9% during the administration of president Dilma Rousseff, a rate higher than in the two terms in office of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
According to the estimates, the growth rate should be 5% in 2011, 5.5% in 2012 and 6.5% in 2013 and 2014. The data were presented by the minister of Finance, Guido Mantega, at the first ministerial meeting, summoned today (14th) by president Dilma Rousseff.
According to the presentation made by Mantega, the average annual growth during Lula’s two terms was 4%. The minister stated that the goal of Dilma’s administration "is to consolidate the development and raise it to higher levels."
