São Paulo – The governor of the state of Minas Gerais, Aécio Neves, is going to head a trade delegation to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, organized by the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (Fiemg). The delegation should travel from October 7th to 12th. The objective of the trip is to show Arab businessmen the investment opportunities in the state. The president at Fiemg, Robson Andrade, should also be in the delegation.
Currently, Neves is in California, in the United States, representing the southeastern Brazilian states at the Governors’ Global Climate Summit. The meeting brings together technicians, businessmen and political leaders to discuss strategies to stimulate economic growth and generate “green” jobs, expanding the use of clean energy, with the objective of reducing greenhouse gas.
According to a spokesperson for the governor, today (1st) he should present panel "Energy strategies for a green economy", with examples of programs and projects for success with solutions for sustainable development of the economy.
Before leaving to Dubai, the governor should visit Rome, in Italy, where he should sign the contract for property of the Italian energy transmission company Terna. In April, the Italian company was purchased by the Minas Gerais Energy Company (Cemig), which is responsible for 12% of the electric energy distribution in the country. The group, which includes 49 companies and 10 consortia, operates in 15 Brazilian states and Chile.
Terna operates in 11 Brazilian states and with its sale to Cemig, the Brazilian company reached 85.27% of the voting capital and 65.8% of the total capital of Terna Participações. According to figures disclosed on the site of the government of the state of Minas, Cemig has expanded its transmission network to 9,508 kilometres, growth of 65%.
