São Paulo – The book “Descubra o Líbano” [Discover Lebanon] had its fourth edition published on Monday (27) night at Hotel Intercontinental Phoenicia in Beirut, Lebanon. The book by the Brazilian author and researcher Roberto Khatlab is a guide in Portuguese about the Arab country published by the Lebanese publishing house Dar Saer Mashrek. Khatlab lives in Lebanon.
Illustrated with colorful pictures of Lebanon, the book is useful for those traveling to the Arab country, with information on the history and geography of its cities and villages, places of pilgrimage for different religions, archeological sites, local culture and gastronomy, customs, traditions, legends, existing natural reserves, and others. According to Khatlab, the current edition was expanded and updated, including a part addressing relations between Brazil and Lebanon, such as the visit of the Brazilian emperor Dom Pedro II to the Arab country in 1876.
Besides the launch of the new edition, the author gave a lecture on Lebanon featuring several guests, including Brazilians from São Paulo and Maringá, where Khatlab was born. The author is naturalized Lebanes and “Descubra Líbano” is his 26th book. To write the guide, Khatlab visited more than 300 cities and villages mentioned in the book.
