São Paulo – Brazilian honey exports declined 21.78% in the first nine months of the year in comparison to the same period of 2014, according to data released this Wednesday (28th) by the Brazilian Association of Honey Exporters (Abemel). Exports were worth USD 63 million. According to the organization, the decline followed the loss of dynamism experienced by the agribusiness in the last few months.
Despite the decline, 2015 should be the second best year for Brazilian honey exporters, topped only by 2014, which closed with external sales worth USD 98.5 million. Abemel’s executive manager, Flávia Salustiano, said, via a statement released by the organization, that the organization expects the decline to be temporary and an increase of external consumption demand in the next few months.
