São Paulo – Theme park Hopi Hari, in the municipality of Vinhedo, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, has assembled two Arabic tents in which tales from "The one thousand and one nights," a classic work of Arabic literature, will be staged. The featured stories will be "The adventures of Sinbad the sailor" and "The fisherman and the genie." According to information supplied by the Hopi Hari press office, each staging lasts approximately ten minutes, after which interaction with the audience takes place.
Apart from the presentations at the tents, the tales are staged at the alleyways in the park, at different hours of the day. Characters such as odalisques, warriors, princesses, sultans, genies, wooden-legged men and jugglers, who participate in the tales, can be found around the park’s alleys. There are a total of 30 artists. The initiative is part of the theme park’s Magic Holidays promotion, created for the school holiday season.
The Arabic tents reproduce the settings of the tales, ranging from birds to giant serpents. The tale "The adventures of Sinbad the sailor" is about a sailor who decides to tell his adventures in the sea to a merchant traveller in order to justify his wealth. "The fisherman and the genie" is the story of a fisherman who throws his net into the sea and retrieves all sorts of odds and ends. One time, however, he fishes a copper jar that contains a genie.
In addition to presentations every evening, there is also a fireworks and music show, with a soundtrack based on the theme that inspired the tales of "One thousand and one nights." In addition to the activities linked to the book, the Magic Holidays program includes other attractions, such as Sesame Street theatre presentations and screenings of the Journey to the Center of the Earth, in a movie theatre with moving seats.
Hopi Hari occupies an area of 760,000 square metres and has 47 different attractions. The park is divided into five thematic sections: Kaminda Mundi, Infantasia, Aribabiba, Mistieri and Wild West. There are also several food spots, a parking lot, a theatre, a bar show, 3D cinema, three movie halls with simulators, and 16 stores. The holiday program started on July 3rd and will continue until August 2nd, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, from Wednesdays to Sundays.
