São Paulo – One of the world’s largest trade fairs for the hotel and food industries, Nova Equipotel, begins today (14th) in the city of São Paulo. A total of 1,100 national and international exhibitors are going to showcase new trends in products, services, foods and beverages for hotels and restaurants. The event, which will continue until Thursday at the Anhembi Exhibition Pavilion, expects to receive 50,000 visitors.
On the 15th and 16th, the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will promote international business roundtables, that will count on seven buyers from the Arab world. Among them is a representative of the Lebanese company BAAL, which supplies hotels and restaurants in the Middle East.
From the United Arab Emirates, attending companies will be Shura Trading & Hotel Supplies, Dimara International and Dhofar Global, from Saudi Arabia, Rolaco Trading & Contracting, from Egypt, Taco – Egyptian German Porcelain and from Jordan, the GMK group. They are all interested in importing food and beverages, decoration and furniture, china, hygiene products, lighting, textiles, cleaning equipment and products.
Today, in the morning, at the Arab Brazilian Chamber head office, the Arab importers are going to watch presentations about the Brazilian market, counting on the participation of the organisation’s Marketing vice-president, Rubens Hannun, the secretary general, Michel Alaby, and the Market Development manager, Rodrigo Solano.
There will also be a presentation on the high-end furniture sector, with the market development analyst of the Brazilian High-End Furniture Manufacturers Association (Abimad), Bruno Silveira; and another on the textile industry, with Guilherme Amorim, of the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit). In the afternoon, the Arabs are going to visit the fair.
Nova Equipotel brings six simultaneous events. Equip Food&Drinks and its Gastronomic Arena, Equip Design, Equip Spa&Wellness, Equip Conference, and the Equipotel Business Roundtables. In the food sector alone, the Brazilian Food Processors Association (Abia) estimates that revenues totalled 60 billion reals (US$ 33 billion) last year, particularly due to the change in habits of the Brazilian population, which is increasingly eating out of home, either for leisure or due to professional activity.
The fair
The Nova Equipotel grew 1.3% this year in number of exhibitors compared with the 2008 edition. The event is going to occupy more than 20,000 square metres of built area, 2.8% more than last year.
