São Paulo – The Ibsa Fund, which comprises India, Brazil and South Africa and managed by the United Nations Development Program (Undp), was granted the Millennium Development Goals Award by the Millennium Development Goals Awards Committee NGO for its work in favour of so-called South-South cooperation, according to information disclosed today (21st) by the Brazilian foreign ministry (Itamaraty).
The award-granting ceremony took place in New York. According to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations, the committee’s task is to promote the Millennium Development Goals, a set of objectives established by the United Nations (UN) in order to reduce poverty on a global scale. The organization’s work includes divulging successful actions carried out by governments, NGOs, multilateral organizations and people.
According to the Itamaraty, the Ibas Fund develops projects in Haiti, Palestine, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Burundi, Cambodia and Laos.
