Rio de Janeiro – The Consumer Confidence Index (ICI), measured by Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV), dropped 0.9% in the first October forecast, as against September. If the reduction is confirmed in the final result for the month, it will be the fifth time running that the index drops, reaching the lowest level since 2009.
The drop was motivated by evaluations with regard to the present moment, measured by the Current Situation Index, and to future forecasts, measured by the Expectations Index. The Current Situation Index dropped 1.2%, whereas the Expectations Index dropped 0.6%.
Preliminary figures of the Industrial Analysis also show relative stability in the Level of Use of Installed Capacity, which is at 84.1% in October. In September, the level had been 84.2%.
Around 800 companies were approached between the 2nd and 17th of this month for initial analysis for the study. The final result of the research will be disclosed on Tuesday (29).
