Brasília – The Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (Icei, in the Portuguese acronym) improved in April in comparison to March, went up one point and reached 38.5 points, announced the National Confederation of Industry (CNI, in the Portuguese acronym) this Thursday (23th), but it’s still recording 17.9 points less than the historical average of 56.4 points.
The CNI’s indicators range from zero to one hundred points and from 50 points below reveal a lack of confidence by the businessmen. According to the survey, the confidence is lower among small and medium-size companies with 37.1 points Icei. Among large companies, the index records 40 points.
The confidence improved among all industrial sectors surveyed when comparing the results to those from March. It went up to 39.2 points with the construction industry companies, 42.1 points with the extraction industry and to 38.2 points with the transformation industry.
For CNI, the increase registered this month is the result of improvements on the forecasts concerning the companies and the economy situation in the next six months. The expectations index went up to 43.2 points in April, 1.8 higher than the one from March.
The survey was taken from April 1st to 15th with 2,884 companies from all around the country. From the total, 1,113 of companies are considered small, 1,089 are of medium-size and 682 are large companies.
