Brasília – The IPEA indicator of Apparent Consumption of Industrial Goods declined 0.6% in August over the previous month. The index is measured based on domestic industrial output plus imports, minus exports.
According to the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA), the result was pulled down by the sectors of capital goods (-7.6%) and semi- and non-durable goods (-1%).
In comparison to August of last year, domestic demand for industrial goods went up 3.7%. Year-over-year, the demand had an even sharper growth (5.5%).
