Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian industrial output was up 0.8% in October to September. It’s the third positive rate running, reaching a 2.4% hike in the three months through October. The numbers are from the Monthly Industrial Survey issued this Wednesday (4) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Year-on-year, output was up 1% in October, 0.1%. Despite these results, industry is down 1.1% year-to-date and 1.3% in the 12 months through October.
Out of the categories, from September to October 2019, the most important positive influences were seen in foodstuffs (pictured above), up 3.4%, and pharmaceuticals (11.2%). Foodstuffs reverted a decline seen in the previous month (-0.3%). Pharmaceuticals recovered from the 9.1% reduction seen in August and September.
