Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian industrial output dropped 0.8% in March 2015, in comparison to February, in the seasonally adjusted series, according to survey by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Seasonal adjustment occurs when experts factor out the sales increase in holidays or commemorative dates. In the non-seasonally adjusted series, industry output dropped 3.5% from March 2013.
All of the major economic categories and the majority of activities had an output reduction. The sectors with higher impact on the decline were auto and trailers and trucks, with a drop of 4.2%; followed by machinery and equipment, with 3.8%; computing equipment, electronic and optical products, with a drop of 8.1%; beverages, with a decline of 4.9%; and rubber and plastic materials, with a reduction of 4.2%.
