Rio de Janeiro – Industrial output declined from June to July in eight of the 14 areas surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The most marked declines occurred in Paraná (-6.3%) and Ceará (-5.2%), according to the Monthly Survey of Industry – Regional Physical Production released this Wednesday (9th).
Two other states had a more marked decline than the national average (-1.5%): Santa Catarina (-2.4%) and São Paulo (-1.8%). Decline in industrial output was also registered in Amazonas (-1.5%), Espírito Santo (-1.4%), Minas Gerais (-1.3%) and Rio de Janeiro (-0.9%). On the other hand, six areas registered na increase in production in the period: Rio Grande do Sul (6.8%), Bahia (5.2%), Pernambuco (3.3%), Goiás (0.6%), Pará (0.4%), besides the Northeast region (3.3%).
