Rio de Janeiro – Confirming the trend seen throughout the year, the Brazilian industrial output ended 2014 down 3.2%, according to a survey released this Tuesday (03rd) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The downturn was registered in 20 of 26 sectors surveyed.
Among the sectors, the main negative impact was registered in autos, trailers and truck bodies (-16.8%). Other relevant negative contributions came from the sectors of metallurgy (-7.4%), metal products (-9.8%), machines and equipment (-5.9%), other chemical products (-3.6%) and electrical machines, devices and material (-7.2%).
Among the six industrial activities that expanded their production, the main positive figures were recorded in extractive industries (5.7%) and coke, oil products and biofuel (2.4%).
