Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production slid in eight out of 15 locations tracked by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) from April to May this year, following the 0.2% decline that the national industry saw in the period. As per the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production released this Friday (12), the highest drop was seen in Espírito Santo (-2.2%).
Other states that saw production go down were Rio Grande do Sul (-1.4%), Santa Catarina (-1.3%), Minas Gerais (-1%), Ceará (-0.9%), Mato Grosso (-0.7%) e Pernambuco (-0.6%). The nine Northeastern states as a whole saw output go down 0.9%.
