Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production has increased in seven localities surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in October from September this year, but the national average remained level. The highest increments took place in the states of Bahia (3.6%), Rio de Janeiro (1.9%), Amazonas (1.7%) and São Paulo (1.1%).
Industry output also increased in Santa Catarina (0.8%), Pará (0.6%) and Espírito Santo (0.6%). Conversely, production dropped in seven localities, most notably Ceará (-4.9%), Pernambuco (-4.6%) and Minas Gerais (-3.3%). In October from September, production also declined in in Rio Grande do Sul (-2.2%), the Northeast (-2%), Goiás (-0.6%) and Paraná (-0.4%).
