Brasília – Industrial output is still in decline. The indicator that measures production development stood at 48.2 points in March of this year, according to the Industrial Survey, a survey released monthly by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI, in the Portuguese acronym). By the research’s methodology, a score lower than 50 indicates decline. Even in decline, the production rate improved over February, when the indicator showed 40.1 points. However, in comparison to March 2014, there was a drop from 48.8 to 48.2 points.
Job creation in the industry sector is also in decline. In March, the indicator that measures the number of employees stood at 43.6 points. In February of this year, it marked 44.7 points and, in March of last year, 48.6 points. The utilization of the installed capacity reached 67% last month. The indicator improved over February’s 66%, but it’s worse than the 71% of March of last year. According to the CNI, the utilization was the lowest for a March since the beginning of the historical series, in 2011.
