Rio de Janeiro – Eight of 14 areas surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) registered a decline in industrial production in January 2018 over the previous month. The sharpest declines were registered in Paraná (4.5%), Rio Grande do Sul (3.5%) and in São Paulo (3.3%), according to data from the Monthly Survey of Industry – Physical Production – Regional released this Friday (9).
Also with declines below the national average (2.4%) were Ceará (2.2%), Rio de Janeiro (2.1%), Espírito Santo (0.9%) and Santa Catarina (0.1%). On the other hand, six states registered an increase in production: Pará (7.3%), Amazonas (7.1%), Goiás (2.4%), Pernambuco (1.5%), Minas Gerais (1.4%) and Bahia (0.9%).
