Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production grew by 1.9% in Brazil in February this year, compared with the previous month. In January, the industry grew by 0.2%. The figures were disclosed this Friday (1st) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The Brazilian industry grew by a rate of 6.9% compared with February 2010. There was growth of 8.6% in the last 12 months and of 4.6% so far this year.
The intermediate goods industry recorded the highest rate of growth in February compared with January, at 1.3%. The capital goods industry grew by 0.9%. The semi- and non-durable consumer goods industries declined by 0.2%, and the durable consumer goods industry retreated by 2.3%.
