Brasília – The industrial production grew for the second month in a row by expanding 0.4% in February in relation to January this year. As a result, the industry amasses an increase of 1.3% in the first two months of the year, in the seasonally adjusted series.
The country’s industrial production data were released, this Wednesday (2), by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE, in the Portuguese acronym), and that shows that in the last twelve months – the annualized rate – the industry has grown by 1.1%, in relation to the twelve months immediately prior to that.
The IBGE pointed out the fact that the two consecutive increases in industrial production took place after a period in which the sector has suffered drops, also in two consecutive periods: -2.6% in December 2013 and -2.2% in January 2014. There has been a growth in three out of the four industry categories and 19 out of the 27 activities analysed showed growth in the production in February.
