Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production was up by 2.3% in Brazil in December 2016, with pickups in activity in ten out of 14 regions tracked by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), which released a breakdown this Tuesday (7) of nationwide data it had made available last week.
As per the seasonally adjusted Monthly Industrial Survey of Regional Production (PIM-PF), the biggest increase in output was seen in Ceará, at 12.4%. IBGE’s numbers show that other states with above-average increases in production were Rio Grande do Sul at 6.3%, Espírito Santo at 5.1%), the Northeast at 4.9% and Santa Catarina at 3.6%.
