Rio de Janeiro – Preliminary results of the Industry Survey of August show a decline of 0.8 point in the Industry Confidence Index (ICI) over July to 99.3 points – the lowest level since November 2017. In July, the indicator was at 100.1 points, the same result of June and May.
The data was shown by the Brazilian Institute of Economics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (IBRE-FGV). The institute’s assessment is that the worsening of the confidence index is being influenced “by the diminished satisfaction of the corporate sector over the current moment.” Preliminary results show that the Current Situation Index (ISA) could drop 2.4 points in August, going from 99 points in July to 96.6 points this month.
For August’s preliminary survey, FGV interviewed 782 companies between August 1 and 17. The survey’s definite results will be shown next Tuesday (28).
