São Paulo – Brazilian process industry owners are back to being optimistic about a pickup in activity over the next few months, in a reversal of the gloom seen in August.
The Industry Confidence Index (ICI), which had slipped by 1 point in September, was up 2.1 points this month, going from 86.1 to 88.2 – the highest score since 88.8 in July 2014.
The ICI tracks the perception of industrialists regarding the current status of their businesses and the six-month outlook, using numbers from the Process Industry Survey by the Brazilian Institute of Economics at Fundação Getulio Vargas (Ibre/FGV).
