Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian industry remained practically stable in July in comparison to June, expanding slightly at 0.1%, the fifth positive consecutive result in this type of comparison, accumulating from March to July a 3.7% expansion according to seasonally adjusted results. The data is part of the Monthly Survey of Industry – Physical Production – Brazil released this Friday (2) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Despite evidence of a trend reversal in the sector’s behavior with July’s result, the Brazilian industry is still presenting a predominantly negative scenario, with the first seven months of the year showing a decline of 8.7%. Year-on-year the scenario is similar: a decline of 9.6% over the previous twelve months – the sharpest decline since the 10.3% of October 2009.
