Brasília – Industrial activity picked up in July in Brazil, the National Confederation of Industry (CNI, in the Portuguese acronym) has reported this Thursday (4th). The use of installed capacity (UIC) was up 0.6 percentage point from 80.4% in June to 81% in July, as per deseasonalized data.
This is the first month-on-month increase following four straight months of decline. Hours worked in production in industry were up 2.6% from June and actual revenues were up 1.2%. Both employment and total wages paid were down 0.2%. Actual average income was up 0.1%.
To the CNI, indicators were impacted by the FIFA World Cup, due to which July comprised less business days than June. The Confederation has also said that despite increases in number of hours worked, revenues and use of installed capacity, the industry scenario remains one of slowdown.
