Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production increased in nine out of 14 locations surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in September from August of this year. Output increased the most in the state of Espírito Santo, by 9%, according to IBGE’s Monthly Survey of Industry.
The national average was 0.5%, with higher-than-average growth in Minas Gerais (2%), São Paulo (1.6%), Rio Grande do Sul (0.7%) and the Northeast (0.6%). Production also went up in Amazonas (0.5%), Pará (0.5%), Rio de Janeiro (0.5%) and Pernambuco (0.2%).
The states of Paraná and Santa Catarina had flat output. Production dropped in three states: Goiás (-3.3%), Ceará (-1.9%) and Bahia (-1.6%).
