Rio de Janeiro – The inflation rate measured by the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) closed July of this year with a variation of 0.62%, a result 0.17 percentage point below the 0.79% of the June variation. With the July increase, the IPCA, in the first seven months of the year, has increased 6.83%, above the 3.76% rate of the same period of 2014. It’s the highest rate for the January to July period since 2003 (6.85%).
The IPCA – surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) – is the government’s official indicator for the measurement of inflation targets. The index measures the variation of the cost of living of families with salaried workers and with a monthly income between one and 40 minimum wages. The data was released this Friday (7th) by the institute.
