Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian inflation tracked by the National Extended Consumer Price Index (IPCA) was up 0.9% in February, 0.37 percentage point less than in January, when it had reached 1.27%. The official inflation numbers were released this Wednesday (9th) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
With the result, the IPCA is now up 2.18% in the first two months of the year, a 0.3 percentage point reduction from the 2.48% rate registered in the comparable period in 2015.
In the 12 months through February, inflation stood at 10.36%, also less than the 10.71% rate in the preceding 12 months. In February 2015, the IPCA scored 1.22%.
