Rio de Janeiro – Inflation in Brazil eased by 0.43 percentage point as per the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), going from 0.78% to 0.35%. The IPCA during the first half of the year was 4.42%, a drop from 6.17% in H1 of last year. Inflation in June (0.35%) was the lowest since 0.22% in August of last year.
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released the numbers this Friday (8). In the 12 months through June, the IPCA – which steers the Central Bank in adjusting its targets plan – was up 8.84%, down 0.48 percentage point from 9.32% from the preceding 12 months.
