Rio de Janeiro – Inflation in Brazil was 0.09% in the first half of October. The Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15) – the official measure of inflation in the country – made public this Tuesday (22) is the lowest since 0.01% in October 1998.
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported inflation of 2.69% year-to-date through October 15, and 2.72% in the 12 months through October 15.
Health and personal care at 0.85% inflation and transportation at 0.35% drove up the IPCA-15 result. There was deflation in food and drinks (-0.25%), housing (-0.23%) and household items (-0.21%).
