Rio de Janeiro – The Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which is considered the official inflation, reached in August 8.97% year-to-year. The rate stands well beyond the upper limit of the federal government’s established target, which is 6.5%. In July, the IPCA reached 8.74% year-to-year. The data was released this Friday (9) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Considering only August’s results, the IPCA stood at 0.44%. The rate was 0.52% in July of this year and 0.22% in August of last year. August’s inflation rate was influenced especially by the rate of 0.96% of personal expenses and 0.8% with healthcare and personal care.
