Brasília – Cooperation between Brazil and Haiti is the theme of an inter-ministerial meeting to take place today (9) in Brazilian capital Brasília, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Relations. The meeting was requested by president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, according to a press statement disclosed by the Brazilian Foreign Office (Itamaraty).
During the meeting, means and forms to strengthen the Brazilian partnership with Haiti should be discussed, including greater involvement with the society.
Brazil has been operating in the Caribbean country since 2004, leading the United Nations Mission for Stabilization of Haiti (Minustah). Recently, in solidarity to the victims of a hurricane in Haiti, the government of Brazil donated US$ 100,000 and sent supplies and medication.
