São Paulo – Brazilians who wish to make donations for international humanitarian aid will have a bank account available for such at Caixa Econômica Federal (the federal savings bank). The initiative was launched during a solemnity held this Thursday (30th), at the Itamaraty palace, the seat of the Brazilian foreign ministry, in Brasília. The account will be linked to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
It will be used in campaigns for raising funds and financing humanitarian actions of the United Nations (UN), such as recovery from social and natural calamities and immediate aid to vulnerable populations. The first campaign will be in favour of victims of the cholera outbreak in Haiti.
Donations can be made to account 664-8, branch 0647, operation 003, at any branch of the bank, lottery shops and non-banking equivalents.
