Brasília – Brazilian expenditure abroad dropped in March, after presenting several records in the previous months. According to data released this Friday (25th) by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC), in March expenditure reached US$ 1.838 billion, down 1.3% in relation to the same period in 2013 (US$ 1.863 billion).
The evaluation of the BC is that the Brazilian tourists are already experiencing the effects of the increase in the dollar price. In 2013, Brazilian expenditure abroad reached a record of US$ 25.342 billion. “We cannot observe throughout 2012 and 2013 a drop in the year-on-year comparison”, said the head of the Brazilian Central Bank’s Department of Economy, Tulio Maciel.
In Q1, there has also been a reduction in Brazilian expenditure abroad. From January to March, expenses reached US$ 5.874 billion, down 1.8% in relation to Q1 2013 (US$ 5.984 billion).
