Brasília – Spending by foreign tourists in Brazil reached USD 3.24 million in the year’s first half, up 5.94% in comparison to the same period of last year, according to data shown this Thursday (26) by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC). The information is from Agência Brasil.
The country welcomed 3.15 million foreign travelers in H1 2018, up 8% from H1 2017, Agência Brasil said, quoting Brazilian Ministry of Tourism numbers.
“The data show tourism is a driver of the economy, and must be treated as such,” the agency quoted Tourism ministry Vinicius Lummertz as saying.
Conversely, overseas spending by Brazilians reached USD 9.57 billion, up 8.72% year-on-year.
