São Paulo – Near 1 million people visited the facilities of the Itaipu hydroelectric power plant in 2016. According to information made public this Monday (2) by Itaipu Binacional, it welcomed 954,572 visitors last year, a record figure and 16% above the number registered in 2015. The previous record was from 2013.
According to the company, there are two types of visitation: institutional and touristic; and it’s possible to enter the facilities coming from both Brazil and Paraguay. From the Brazilian side, the highlight is the increase of 82% in the number of people that visited the Bela Vista Sanctuary, and from the Paraguayan side is the 96% increase in visitation after the reopening of the Terra Guarani Museum, as reported by the company.
