Brasília – In August, Brazil generated 299,415 official work posts, 0.86% more than in July, when 181,000 work posts were created. The figures are part of the General Records Office for Employment and Unemployment, disclosed on Thursday (16) by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Last month, the number of people hired reached 1.74 million and those dismissed reached 1.44 million. It was the best month of August since the figures started being recorded, in 1992, and the second best result for the year. Of all the figures recorded to date, this is the fourth best result.
In the accumulated result for the year, the balance is 1.954 million jobs generated. According to the ministry, the target for generation of jobs in 2010 has been maintained at 2.5 million.
Among the sectors responsible for growth in August are services, with 128,232 new jobs, the transformation industry, with 70,393 jobs, and trade, 65,083.
The building sector presented the greatest growth as against last month. Job generation reached 40,138 jobs, 1.59% more than in July (38,382).
