São Paulo – Jordan has gradually reopened different business in the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic. On Sunday (28) it announced that entertainment and recreation areas will be allowed to resume operations under strict health measures.
The Arab country allowed entertainment and recreation areas within resorts to restart operations amid efforts for normalcy despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Tariq Hammouri, has granted approval for some entertainment areas such as arcades to resume operation under strict health measures, Petra reported.
International exams will also be allowed, according to the minister, and special education centers for people with disabilities can also resume services.
Repatriation suspended
Despite the resumed activities, Jordan has suspended its repatriation mission, after the country recorded an increase of COVID-19 infections among returnees. Jordan had been facilitating the return of its citizens stuck overseas after the pandemic had closed borders but suspended its efforts until July 10.
Pre-scheduled trips, however, will continue, according to Operations National Centre for Security and Crisis Management’s Crisis Cell director Mazen Faraiah. He reported that the country is rearranging reception and quarantine procedures for future returnees.
Jordan has now 1,121 confirmed cases and 9 deaths from coronavirus, the World Health Organization reported.
