São Paulo – The state of Alagoas, in Northeast Brazil, is going to promote a seminar, including business meetings, to help place and promote its companies in the international market. The event, named Export Promotion Seminar (Sempex), will bring together Alagoas-based product and service suppliers and Brazilian and foreign buyers, in the state capital Maceió, from the 17th to the 19th this month. Among the importers there will be a trading company from Jordan, as well as buyers from Colombia, Italy, Chile, Hong Kong, the United States, Angola and Portugal.
The Jordan-based trading company is coming to Alagoas interested in buying food and beverages, textiles and accessories and decoration and construction products. According to information supplied by the Federation of Industries of Alagoas (Fiea), in the food sector, the Jordanian company is interested in all sorts of products. In the textile sector, the demand is for cushions, quilts, blouses, casual wear, children’s wear, and lingerie, and in decoration and construction, for PVC coating, door and window frames, tiles and glass coating.
The other buyers are distributors, store chains, traders, supermarkets and boutiques, all in the fields of textiles and accessories, construction, decoration, foodstuffs and beverages. At the meeting, there will be business roundtables, lectures, presentation of cases of exporting companies, and sectoral workshops. The opening of the seminar should count on the presence of the Brazilian minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Miguel Jorge, and of the president of the National Confederation of Industries (CNI), Armando Monteiro.
On the 17th there will be lectures by political and industrial authorities. On the following day, the seminar will approach agribusiness and the European market, fashion trends and buying expectations in the European market, the success case of Coopnatural, in the textile industry, the internationalisation of juice manufacturing company Sucos Brasil, the conquering of the foreign market and competitiveness, the importance of design to the creation of clothing identity, among others. The business meetings will take place on the last day, the 19th.
This will be the sixth edition of the Sempex, which was first promoted in 2002. Over 150 businessmen attended the first edition. For this year’s edition, the Fiea is going to count on the partnership of the government of the state of Alagoas, the National Confederation of Industries (CNI), the Brazilian International Business Centres Network, the Al Invest Program (of the European Commission for cooperation among small businesses), the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) and the Brazilian Post Offices. The meeting should be held at the Ruth Cardoso Convention Centre.
