São Paulo – A group of 153 turtles was put to the Gulf Sea, in Dubai, last Friday (29th), by the city’s Turtle Rehabilitation Project. The announcement was made by the press office of the Jumeirah group, which had two of its hotels, Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah, involved in the initiative.
The animals spent a period in rehabilitation prior to being released. There were 150 Green turtles and three Loggerhead ones. The releasing of the animals was watched by a multitude on the Dubai beach.
Along with the action, the Jumeirah group launched a contest to see which of seven turtles put to sea will go the farthest. They will be monitored via satellite. Their position will be available on facebook (www.facebook.com/turtle.rehabilitation) and the winner will be announced in October.
