São Paulo – The king of Jordan, Abdullah II, and the managing director to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, have met this Thursday (13th) in Washington, United States. In a communiqué, the IMF has reported that the king and Lagarde spoke on the crisis in Syria, Jordan’s economic performance, and the organization of a high-level conference due in May in Amman.
As per the Fund’s communiqué, Lagarde praised the efforts of Jordanian authorities to promote economic reforms, in tandem with a loan program from the IMF. The project is designed to create jobs, promote inclusive growth and economic stability. At the meeting, the king and Lagarde have also discussed the impact of the Syrian crisis on Jordan.
According to the Fund, Lagarde and Abdullah II discussed the organization of the high-level conference “Building the future: growth, employment and fairness in the Arab world,” which will be held by the Jordanian government, the IMF and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development on May 11 and 12 in Amman.
