São Paulo – The academic year in Kuwait has officially ended, Gulf News reported, as the Cabinet approved plans submitted by Education minister Saud Al Harbi.
The move was prompted by Covid-19. The academic year in Kuwait runs from September to August. Classes at public schools had been suspended on March 12. These schools have now closed for the year.
Twelve-graders are still required to perform online activities. All other grades will complete their subjects in the first semester of the next school year. Private schools have succeeded in completing the second semester, Gulf News said.
The Ministry of Education has promoted all students in the country. Students who do not have degrees due to absence have the right to sit second-round exams. The next school year begins on October 4, and classes may resume online as a result of the pandemic.
Minister Al Harbi said that within a few days, Kuwait’s e-learning system will be ready to receive the 450,000 public school students for their first e-learning experience. He also said on behalf of the Ministry and the administration that student health comes first.
