Kuwait City – Kuwait’s emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (pictured above in the center) launched Jahra Medical City this Monday (20. The complex took three years to build and cost roughly USD 1.2 billion, Kuwait News Agency (Kuna) reported.
The four-tower complex boasts 1,234 beds, Kuwait’s biggest maternity, gynecology center and emergency department, one of the largest central medical laboratories in the country, educational facilities, conference rooms, dentistry clinics, a parking lot for 5,000 vehicles and a helicopter pad.
Also included are 156 ICU rooms, the world’s second biggest hyperbaric unit, and 135 outpatient clinics, over a total built area of 724,000 sqm.
Kuna said the medical equipment was imported from the United States, Canada and Europe.
