São Paulo –Agility, a logistics sector multinational that is headquartered in Kuwait, has been controlling the Brazilian Itatrans, in the same sector, since December last year. This information was confirmed last week by the company. The company did not inform, however, the value of the acquisition.
According to the Agility press advisory, the company already operated in Brazil through outsourced agents, but did not have its own installations. The acquisition was the way found to enter the country with a complete structure.
The process for integration should take one year. The Brazilian company, which is now named Itatrans Agility, was established in 1921 and currently has seven offices in the country and over 200 employees, according to its web page.
The company operates in air, maritime and road freight and in other sectors of logistics, and supplies mainly the auto, electronic and chemical product industries, also according to its web page.
Agility is a listed company with shares traded on the Kuwait and Dubai stock exchanges. According to the organisation’s web page, it has 550 offices in 120 countries. Last year, the company had revenues of 1.7 billion Kuwaiti dinars, US$ 5.8 billion at current exchange rates.
The Arab company supplies logistics services to companies in general, in the area of defence and infrastructure. The commercial division, which bought Itatrans, is headquartered in Switzerland.
