São Paulo – The Kuwaiti company Al-Yasra Foods is looking to step up its imports from Brazil, according to the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce CEO Michel Alaby, who convened with company executives last weekend in the Arab country’s capital.
“They mentioned that they would like to increase their imports from qualified Brazilian suppliers,” said Alaby. Al-Yasra is one of the Arab enterprises to participate in the World Cup Buyer Project, consisting of matchmaking rounds during the world football championship to be held in Brazil. The project is sponsored by the Arab Chamber and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
“We have discussed the World Cup, and the group is sending a delegate from its purchasing department to Brazil, via the Apex/Arab Chamber project, to get in touch with Brazilian exporters of general foodstuffs, except poultry,” said Alaby. The company is already a distributor of Brazilian brand Sadia’s products in Kuwait.
Alaby, the Arab Chamber Marketing coordinator Karina Cassapula, the chargé d’affaires of the Brazilian embassy in Kuwait, Jaçanã Ribeiro, and the official in charge of commercial promotion at the diplomatic representation, Haissan Halabi, have met with Al-Yasra delegates to invite them to the opening of Brazilian Week, a promotional action starting next Tuesday (3rd), held by the Kuwaiti supermarket Sultan Center. Approximately 150 items will be on showcase.
The group also met with the deputy director-general of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hamad Al-Omar, and invited him to the opening of Brazilian Week. “It will be an opportunity for local consumers to see and buy approximately 150 [Brazilian] products, like guaraná, chocolate powder, fruit compotes, jellies, assai and other items,” said Alaby.
