São Paulo – The hair products company Lagune Cosmetics will begin to export to Lebanon. The deal was signed and, according to the brand’s management and financial director, João Pasquotto, the shipments should begin in the next three months. The main products to be exported are serum, Brazilian hair straightening products, hair mask and a recovery product for porous, over-processed and weak hair – all of them from the product line Luminosittá. In Brazil, the brand is known for its bleaching powder.
Lagune already exports to Iraq under its own brand and packaging in Arabic and English; and indirectly to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Lebanon – local companies supply the packaging and Lagune bottles the products and exports under its own company registration.
The small business is in Mauá, 29 km from São Paulo, and has a staff of 40 people. It has been sending products to Iraq for over a year, via indirect sales, and for six months with direct sales.
“This month we sold USD 77,000 worth of product to Iraq, and we estimate that this will increase to USD 300,000 next month,” Pasquotto told ANBA. He said he first got in touch with the Arab country at the 2017 Beauty Fair in São Paulo.
According to him, Arabs are particular to Brazilian product, since Brazil is home to one of the largest Arab communities of any non-Arab country. “The Brazilian hair straightener, for instance, is a successful product because it’s only made in Brazil, and it straightens in a less aggressive, more natural way,” he said.
Pasquotto said the company is looking into selling direct in other Arab countries and planning to go to the Beautyworld Middle East expo in Dubai next years.
Lagune Cosmetics products are sold in outlets across Brazil. The company is one of the country’s leading hair bleaching powder manufacturers. It even supplies smaller third-party brands.
