Brasília – The director general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Pascoal Lamy, was elected lastr Thursday (30th) for another four-year term at the head of the organization. Lamy has been the director of the WTO since 2005 and is going to start his new term on September 1st.
Lamy was interviewed and unanimously selected by members of the organization. In his address on how he is going to conduct the WTO over the next four years, he stated that the WTO should continue perfecting its ability to respond swiftly to global challenges, and also contribute to the devising of solutions for those challenges.
The WTO has existed since 1995 and aims to regulate trade relations between its member nations.
